Frequently Asked Questions
If I join Air Force Junior ROTC, do I have to go into the military? No. There is no obligation to join the military if you participate in JROTC. Should you desire to enter the military after high school, JROTC does provide some advantages including increased money and rank. Additionally, should you desire to go into an ROTC program in college, JROTC also provides some benefits including special looks from scholarship boards. If I go into the military after high school, do I have to go into the Air Force? No. All four military services recognize participation in any branch of high school JROTC. Will I be forced to do pushups or have people yelling at me? No, not in Air Force JROTC. This is a high school program - not the military. We help our students become better citizens regardless of their intentions after high school. We feel that we can give our students the tools needed to be successful in life without yelling and screaming at them. Do I have to be able to run and do pullups? No. While physical fitness is 20 percent of our curriculum, everything is done on an individualized approach. Our goal is help our students improve their personal, overall fitness knowledge and conditioning. The fitness portion of the curriculum includes informational classroom lessons along with fun and interesting outdoor activities. |

Plum's Air Force Junior ROTC offers a four year curriculum containing two major components: Aerospace Science and Leadership Education, along with Wellness (Physical Fitness). Co-Curriculars and STEM is where it's at! Co-Curricular activities include functions and programs cadets help plan, and serve to augment AFJROTC Curriculum. Co-Curricular activities are AFJROTC sponsored and school approved events normally conducted outside the classroom (before/after school). Co- Curricular activities will not replace AFJROTC classroom Aerospace Science and Leadership Education curriculum requirements. These activities are designed to:
1. Acquaint AFJROTC cadets with the importance of the program.
2. Increase cadets’ knowledge of aerospace science and motivate them to attain an even greater knowledge of aerospace science.
3. Employ an interest in the program to enrich the total development of AFJROTC cadets.
4. Provide activities and opportunities for the development of aerospace leadership skills.
5. Inspire interest in related aerospace careers.
6. Contribute to the development of an understanding of aerospace power.
7. Lead to the discovery of the individual educational needs of cadets aspiring to careers in aerospace.
